He earned an ABD from the University of Georgia in USA in Philosophy with a major in Spanish Language and Literature. He is a specialist in Contemporary Spanish Literature. Also, he is a member of a group of researchers from the Universidad de Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Spain.

- Hayden fell in love with Spanish as a high school student after traveling to the Dominican Republic with her church.
- She became eager to learn the language so she dedicated her high school and college career to studying Spanish. She continued to travel and spent a semester studying abroad in Granada, Spain.
- Hayden felt that one semester was not enough, so she moved to Costa Rica after graduating from Virginia Tech. Hayden spent 2 years there, living with a family in a tiny mountain town and teaching English at the elementary school. This experience further ignited her love for the Spanish language!
